I have never understood the set up at Llandudno. I can understand that they don't want steel on the roads but there is a "separate" rally on the fields above the town where the trucks, tractors, stationaries, stalls etc are located. It is a big field and it would be great to see some steam engines on there, be it rollers, other steel shod engines, more minatures and so on.

I don't know if it's the same committee or not but I'm sure for the size of the town, more could be done.

I also got the impression this year that there were not so many additional 'street theatre' acts.

Maybe someone who exhibits there could comment?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great event but it seems to be lacking given the potential.

I attended last year with my four inch Foster (on the field) the way I understand it is they are two separate shows with two different titles. The one based in the town centre is the "Victorian Extravaganza Weekend" and the one on the field is the "Transport Extravaganza", both run by different people I gather.

It's the full size engines based in the town centre that have a grand parade, there isn't a parade starting from the showground anymore although the miniatures do have a trundle down the seafront on the Saturday night. It's a great weekend no matter which show you're booked in with. It's not often I unzip the tent at a rally in the morning and look out to sea! Lee

A good enough reason on it's own not to pay a visit.

Erm....Don't they use heavy rollers when the roads are being resurfaced !. what's wrong with having a few steam rollers in the parade !.

Cheers
