1" 8tpi (bsw) long stay tap

hi all

a good friend is looking to buy or hire a stay tap, 1" 8tpi (bsw) needs to be long as is to thread the crown stays on his Aveling roller,

any help greatly received

Can he not weld a normal tap onto a piece of bar, then turn and thread that to pitch?

Thats how I've seen Aveling Crown stay taps done in the past.

He's lucky it isn't a Fowler at 14tpi!

yes i think that is what he will do, but thought we would try and find one before making one!
