Default Timber for brake blocks

Leighton Railway are after some suitable timber for a pair of new brake blocks for Chaloner. Can anyone assist with the correct type and supplier ? I can get the dimensions in a few days

Black poplar apparently Kev. Pretty common tree. No good for logs hence good for brake blocks. Chris had some a while back.

Lots of trees down after the wind! I would just go for a wander around the local area, speak to some of the tree surgeons. Some of them don't know what to do with all the stuff they are dealing with. (Especially as you are only after a small amount) (it would need seasoning though mind!
