Default Fawley Hill 2014

Made the 3 hour trip up to Fawley today, lovely weather, especially the evening! A good mixture of engines were attending from all over, around 60 at a guess, which did make the arena parade a little interesting to say the least, perhaps a bigger arena with a little more organisation is in order next time!

I had a wonderful time at Fawley Hill, especially generating next to 'Philadelphia' on the Saturday night. The atmosphere was excellent. However, in the early evening, there were some crazy people driving round the arena at speeds that were asking for trouble. Why is this necessary?

Here's a few off my phone. Never had time to take many pictures, was constantly moving around. Brilliant rally. Do as you like kind of place just be sensible. Lots of Showmans which would have made an impressive line up at night.

An excellent event which I thoroughly enjoyed. Everyone I spoke to seemed to be so relaxed, it was that kind of event. Hats off to all involved.

This got the cameras clicking!

How did I forget this picture. Lady Mcalpine steering Avis round the arena on the Saturday evening. She put a lot of work in over the weekend and was definitely not afraid of grafting and getting stick in, I seen her out at 7am driving around in her buggy, then getting out and checking that bins weren't full.

I just had to add my twopenth, it was the best steam rally that I have been too for a long time' one of the best line up of engines both full size and miniatures I have seen for some time, the showman's line up on Saturday night was a picture. Lady M was brilliant greeted my wife and I like long lost friends, and showed us to our pitch. She provided many entertaining moments over the course of the rally, one particular moment when she shot off across the camping field in her buggy with Dilys her right hand woman hanging on, and with various dogs and people in hot pursuit it was hilarious. She had time for everybody, on Sunday evening she gave us a hint that they will do it again for Sir William's 80th in 2016.

You are welcome Eleanor, And thank you for giving me a hand. You are welcome any time. I was also impressed with your steering as the Fowler isn't the easiest of engines.

Regards

Matt
