Default Lake Goldsmith 100

What a great event, thousands of people great weather and plenty of Steam. Steam preservation in Australia is alive and well and getting stronger. It was very heartening to see so many younger enthusiasts on and looking after engines. Those that say the their are not enough young people coming through the rank's would have had their eye's opened at this rally.Talking to a representative from a Tassie club he said in the last two years they had around 50 people go through there Steam School.
It was great to catch up with a number of local TT members, I would like to thank them for making us so welcome. Some of you will be able to add engine details.

Thanks for the photos. Looks like it was a good weekend.

In 2nd & 3rd photos and 3rd, 4th & 5th from last why were engines behind barriers with "No admittance to the public"?

It's like going back in time, to the 70's seeing those photo's, everyone free to look around engines as far as the eye can see, and not to much other crap spoiling the rally ! Thanks for sharing them.

Mark.

Shame about the Orange plastic safety mesh- the timber rails in the last few pictures were much more photogenic if things did have to be cordoned off. It surprised me that so many engines were not out playing or even just ticking over behind their fence whilst I was there.

I very quickly got tired of the crowds, huge ques for food, and lack of seating, so went exploring Victoria's gold mining heritage and ended up deep underground- just as interesting to me, but I did enjoy myself at Lake Goldsmith never the less.

What a cracking set of photo's. Loved the Foden's of course. Nice to see the Naval wagon and the Langwill Bros Davies Livery.

Thanks for posting them.
