Hi Chris,

Not really - I don't want to add to the conversion debate...

There is a "Garrett 4CD Showmans" that is actually brand new and powered by a 2CV petrol engine. I have seen photos of it and if you are familiar with this type of engine you can see that some parts don't quite look right. It is very good - and if that's what the owner wants that is fair enough - I suspect it fools a number of people but it is not for me. I am left wondering what the world of steam engines is all about for some people - shiny paintwork, polished brass but no sense of history... But that is just my opinion - not right or wrong so don't shoot me down folks!

Michael

PS just read the reply from Mark - posted while I was typing mine!

Hi Gordon,

hups, shame on me I did not recognize that !

That means probably also that the illusion is more or less OK

A bizarre idea anyway, I was a bit focused on the models I suppose and the space where the showmans were located was a bit more crowded + knowing the showmens line in dorset I might have been a bit ignorant.

Maybe David has some interesting details from Vera ...

cheers
chris

.. and Chris what the explanations do not mention:

The builder had no plans.
He worked exclusively on the old Bandai kit, which if I remember right was 1/16 scale!

Sláinte!

Many thanks for the honors, John.

But you can slow down with your planning for Dordt in Stoom, as this show is only every second year, so next in 2016 !!!

Slainte,
George.
