Here are my photos from this year's Great Dorset Steam Fair. This year was GDSF's 49th Anniversary and as usual the organisers always put on a great show. I came across a number of engines which I saw at South Cerney earlier this month and others which I haven't seen at any rally I've attended over the years. Unlike previous years, I attended Great Dorset throughout the Bank Holiday Weekend without any regrets.

I am a steam buff but there are other sections which I was more than willing to see. Having the visit spread out over the three days, I was able to see so much more and also took plenty of opportunities to rehydrate in addition to seek shelter when I felt too hot.
I'm more than willing to do something similar for the 50th Anniversary next year. There was mention of engines being bought over from New Zealand but I've heard nothing else, so far apart from "It's going to be something really special".
