Very sorry. Must have been past my bedtime. I know perfectly well it's a Tuxford. I used to 'help' Ronald with it when I was still in short trousers.

Please excuse my ignorance but how was this engine used for dredging. Was a winch system driven from the flywheel like the old circular ploughing systems? or was this engine just used for carting the dredged material away?

James Coward's engine - no. 2425 - "From 1910 was used for river dredging work for Monument & Ray of East Harling."
I believe this was used to bring the empty dredge back, having been pulled by a ploughing engine, with the cable run forward through a large diameter pulley strapped round the smokebox.

Hi Bill, good to see you briefly on Friday. John Hunt's Marshall, after roading a considerable distance to the rally suffered a small failure to proceed a few miles off the show site. Countess had a good head of steam on Friday morning and we offered to push the roller nearer the water bowser. After chatting for a while and catching up we realised we were due in the ring in 20 minutes, so with the permission of both owners we decided to take the roller in with us!

After a rallysite-rebuild the roller was back in steam for the remainder of the rally and last I heard remedial work would be carried out as soon as possible.
