![]() Hi
I have been looking for a book called "The Engineer" for some time now, it has pull out line drawings that unfold to a good size of all sorts of engines, lathes, and lots of pics of big machinery, latches that could have my house mounte on the faceplate! hehe Any clues to where i may find one, or even who has written it, to give me a bit of a lead!? Cheers Dave |

![]() 'The Engineer' is now a weekly trade newspaper. In years gone by it was only published Monthly I think, and included, as it does now, topics of interest. Around the dawn of the 20th Century these articles would of course have included information on the great Engineering Feats of the time - Railways, Boats, Traction Engines and the machines and technology used to build them. I think that you have probably seen compilation books or yearbooks of the periodicals.
Any of the historical book dealers will get copies from time to time I would guess. Good luck with your search!.. |

![]() Inquire at your local public library to find out which branch of your City or County libraries holds bound copies of ' The Engineer ' . I would be disappointed if Crewe Library did not have a set . A telephone call should get you the answer . Once you have your hands on them , use the index in each volume . Royal Show ( RASE Show ) and Smithfield Show are worth looking up , besides engine builders' names and general topics such as ' traction engine ' and ' steam wagon ' or ' portable engine '
