The problem with the Plassey was that the management of the site changed and they didn't want the show anymore.
I think it was a son took over after father handed over reins or died.
It was discussed at length obviously but at that time the Plassey was totally out of the question as a show site again.
There was no suggestion that the owners had any particular grievance or that they wanted too much money.
There was one wet year when the site got in a mess, I was towing lorries off the rig and furrow another year the event had to be cancelled as a dead loss (of £16k) due to extreme wet standing water all round the field a couple of days beforehand. I cant remember the order. As you'll remember when I was good it was very good and successful too.
