Oo-err , even thorobreds have different spots , and some lovely dogs are mongrels . No working engines ended up with all their original parts . Some builders , like Burrells , could not build two the same , even if they tried .

My point is that one should not spoil one's pleasure in owning and restoring an engine by chasing some myth of originality , much of which is the invention of small minded rivet counters , who get their small thrills by scoring points according to their rules . It is interesting to know what is ' original ' , but not that important . Mind you , if that is what really floats your boat , then be prepared to take longer and spend more .

I am sure that all you want is a nice pair of Aveling oil pots , and I am only making a general point .

N.B. I certainly do not intend to in any way get at you .
