Default Strumpshaw - Sun 3 Jun 2012

Some pictures that I took at Strumpshaw today. I am sure somebody has much better pictures taken yesterday - I understand it was wall to wall sunshine. Not quite the same today although the rain wasn't as bad as in some other parts of the UK.

A number of engines I hadn't seen before, and the normal varied selection. I understand numbers where slightly down due to Jubilee celebrations elsewhere but it was good turn out, one of the biggest events in the East.

Garrett 30826 made it's in steam, sign written debut on it's 100th birthday:

Fowler 15632, Tiger tractor that spent it's working life in Scotland which hasn't made a rally appearance for a good few years:

Aveling & Porter 8378 is a new one to me:

Marshall 77201
has moved east to new owners:

Fowler 8334, another one that I haven't come across before:

Very nice Marshall portable, 82916;

Foden 13802:

Wallis & Steevens 7497:

Marshall 54486:

Foster 14422:

Burrell 3695:

Ruston Hornsby 115123:

Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies 24436:

Foden 3534:

Fowler 14258:

The signwritting is definitely the icing on the cake. I understand that there was a photo session last weekend in the glorious sunshine near where the wagon originally worked - looking forward to seeing that in OG.

Excellent pictures David, thanks as usual. Well done to the owners of the Garrett wagon, a lot has happened since Bedford rally last, every one must be very proud of there work. Look forward to seeing it in person soon.

It was a good rally as usual, the only disappointment was that the playpen seemed to be half the size it normally is. Didn;t really matter though as we couldn't use it due to the mud! Hopefully it can be made a lot bigger next year?

David

Aveling 10393 would be a piston valve roller - the photo is a slide valve engine . What one is it?

8378 of 1914.

Very nice old roller too which sounded well.

Sorry, wrong picture with wrong engine. I have corrected above.

This is Aveling 10393:

This is Aveling 10487:

And as Jim says this is Aveling 8378:

A trio of Aveling & Porter rollers that I hadn't seen before.
