I have for sale a Smart and Brown type L plain lathe, it is very good condition apart from the paint on the base ,the spindle accepts type 5c collets max capacity one inch dia,it is the late type square style headstock ,tooth belt drive 147 rpm to 3000 rpm .it has the compound slide and tail stock. There is also a capstan slide and cut off slide they came from another similar S&B lathe,regarding tooling there is only a catch plate and one 20mm 5c collet, a chuck can be easily fitted to the catch plate, The motor is 3 phase two speed and has been run off a convertor (not for sale) . The base is fabricated steel very heavy constructed to provide a precision support for the lathe,An ex college machine . A very expensive precise machine by reputable company,can be used for repetition work using the capstan or precise work using the compound slide look up the smart and brown website for a photo of the machine,if you are limited for space or have a Myford with its rather small bore,this is an ideal companion as the spindle will take just over an inch in conjunction with a 5 inch chuck or 1 inch in a collet and do the screwcutting in the myford.The dials are metric.
