Not if it is in half decent order and you do not do it every day . The engines were built to withstand the maximum torque which they could develop , otherwise they would have been self destructing , and no use to anyone .

It is interesting that , unlike other builders of road engines , McLarens did not have separate draught straps , but the draught was taken through the tank . I have never heard that they were any the worse for this .

I pulled the back coupling of a Mc Laren couple of years ago.
