Think carefully about (not) buying one that needs a lot of work. I've spent 20+ years restoring mine and have yet to drive it. If I had spent more money initially then I might have been able to buy one up and running, AND I then spent the past 20 years driving it!
What with so many uncertainties around coal supplies, climate change implications etc, I would want to enjoy it ASAP rather than after a lengthy restoration. My tuppence worth. Cheers Carl.
