Roller/traction engine project

Fortunately found myself in a position where I am now looking to purchase a roller/derelict traction engine or to see whatever is out there. Not set my heart or anything in particular but would ideally like it to be of British manufacturers. Open to all lines of enquiry with the strictest of confidentially.

Many thanks.

Legacy vehicles had Ashley Browns Wallis Advance which is a 6 ton. (Another quick engine on the road)

Only know as I was looking to buy it last season before we settled on a large model.

2 Aveling rollers coming up for sale... both require a good bit of TLC

Think carefully about (not) buying one that needs a lot of work. I've spent 20+ years restoring mine and have yet to drive it. If I had spent more money initially then I might have been able to buy one up and running, AND I then spent the past 20 years driving it!

What with so many uncertainties around coal supplies, climate change implications etc, I would want to enjoy it ASAP rather than after a lengthy restoration.

My tuppence worth.

Cheers
Carl.

Well said. thumbsup
Many of us have great intentions but forget we have a finite amount of time.

This is especially true as our lives throw us many curve balls.
You really don’t want to spend a lifetime fixing something unless you prefer to repair something than you do taking it out to play.
