![]() The variator can be repaired easily provided it has not had the wrong oil used in it, If they are noisy it is generally caused by pitted cones, take the cones to somebody who knows how to use a cylindrical grinder and reface them. The backlash adjustment is critical as is the correct oil (Shell Tellus R10 ). If the balls are badly pitted it will be noisy if not this could be a cheap repair( I have repaired 4 or 5 of them )
