![]() why not simply use a 1/2 BSP 1/4 turn azy packed plug cock?.
As far as I was aware thats essentially what yours is on 'The Pirate' Tryst, only later did they fit the push button type. One with screwed fittings like this ![]() ![]() £18.40 plus some very awfull tax at HSS, probably with you the following day too. Just need to make the pipework, and a handle and rod then your good to go

![]() Could you make one out of a whistle valve and use it as a push button? I've never been a fan of the Aveling type 1/4 turn simpling valves and would like to change mine when it is restored.

When I get to drive Mr Milns GTI roller, I quite like the 1/4 turn cock, if you set them so the handle down is shut you can get it to open with a flick of the wrist, and it will close itself with the weight of the handle. Also, a side valve Aveling is like the Marshall in that its not live steam, whearas the Burrell you are used to is.
