Wybunbury Fig Pie Wakes

The event is held at in the village of Wybunbury (Pronounced Winbury). The village has a leaning church tower, just the tower remains. There are two pubs. If you want to enter the fig pie rolling I believe you need to buy a recipe and get an entry form. The pies are solid, about 8 inch diameter. Contestants take turns to roll the pie down a hill and the one which travels the greatest distance is the winner. Some of the Shropshire lads turn up and partake of the local waters and you can climb to the top of the tower and watch Morris Dancers frolic on the lawn. It's a bit like a May Day with pies.
