Sissons portable in 2 inch scale re Haining

Hello Davy. Thanks for question. Not the dairy engine, but a horizontal boiler type. Looks like a normal type portable, with cylinder and two flywheels on top, but main difference is the 4 wheels are all the same size, perhaps best described as a portable on a trolley type carriage. In 2 inch scale, boiler size is approx 4 inch diameter by 7 inches long.

Davy there is a picture part way down the following page. Not the most attractive of portables. Looks a bit like the early Seeking portables

Potty as you can see from the above the Sissons can be done by fabrication, you don't really need castings. But Graham at Brunell Steam models is supposed to have patterns, try your luck with him.

Have you tried Neil Tyler on here as Darbydiggertyler,he has started doing castings for some of John Haining/Colin Tyler models,plus drawings.
But i guess fabrication will be the only option.Was this portable serialised in Model Engineer?

Yes it was in ME though I've never seen the drawings available elsewhere. I've got most of them and could make up whats missing.

As I said in the thread about the Countrymans steam series in ME you could always use the cylinder and curved spoke flywheel off the Kitson that Tyler does and make a freelance portable.

I've got to agree with Jason... "Not the most attractive of portables."

I would even be so bold as to say that was a masterpiece of understatement! However, beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder.

There is a good reason for that.

Sissons took over Seekings, even operating out of the same address, and selling the same engine badged up as a Sissons.

There are three (?) Seekings Portables in Australia, and at least one Sissons of the same pattern not so far from where I am writing this, but the semi portable version with no wheels.

I like the Mamod wheels on the version in your link.
