Crying Rally suggestions.......

Hi all

Does anyone know of a steam show/rally in the Herts/Cambridge/Essex area that is likely to take a late booking????

Having just finished my 6" engine, bought a tow-car, trailer and all associated gubbins, i am finidng all the shows i was hoping to sneak into are fully or over booked.

Old Warden, Barleylands even GDSF are full, a lot of my preferred ralllies have had this years event so i missed them.

I have sent out many emails but either not getting any response or "try again next year"

I'm not road taxed yet so i cant even test drive her as the garden's not big enough

Any ideas???

Dave

ps, Is it normal to have to practically beg to get into the GDSF?? I spoke to them today and was told to write back in December with a formal request, full details AND photos of the engine for the possibility of getting an application form for 2011, i was not very impressed.

Dave,

This is a very long way for you to go but its the best model only rally in my opinion, went for the first time last year and it was brilliant

they want to see the engine, they can be picky with what engines attend as they have more than enough people apply each year.

I would have thought you would be accepted next year, as its a different model from the norm.

That was a very good show, plenty of nice long, private, tarmac roads to play on

Thanks for that, it is a bit far i'm afraid. The whole setup, engine, trailer, towcar etc is untested as it is so i was looking for local, familiar shows in case it all goes pear-shaped for one reason or another

Re the GDSF, ok i understand now, they were a bit blunt on the phone though

Stick a washing machine motor on the front of the 6" & GDSF will fall over themselves to have you there!

Have you tried the Lincoln Rally- 21st & 22nd August, held on the Lincolnshire Showground site ?. A great turn out of full size and often around 100 miniatures.

Regards

Chris

Dave, what about Haynes Tractor rally 25th & 26th Sep the weekend after Old Warden ?
You would be able to take it there, and I could get you a form, but it is on a stubble field.
