Default Victorian Christmas At Portsmouth Dockyard

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard held its 12th Victorian Festival of Christmas over this weekend! Steam was a late addition, and proved very popular! Hopefully this might replace the festival of steam which was axed last year! Hopefully next year a few more engines will be able to come! Burrell Crane engine Old Tim came down from Somerset, and a Ralph Cook's Sentinel S4 came over from the Island as well as a few miniatures, a steam train and a set of steam Gallopers. Weather was overcast so photo were not easy to take nor was the fact that there were loads of people all around, very interested with the steam engines! Well worth a look if your not up to much tomorrow, expensive though if you have already been to the Dockyard! Lots to see, 100's of festive stalls, lots of period dress, rides and even a snow street!

Festive attachment to Old Tim, young and old both loved it!

Hiya
We had an amazing time! Thanks for the Photo Robin. It was William's first public outing in steam an he did really well, only one minor hiccup Sunday afternoon.
We were well looked after as exhibitors, I know dad had a great time but was very tired at the end of each day. The public were great, interested and polite and all having a good time. The atmoshpere was buzzing all day especialy with various victorian characters wandering about including Queen Vic herself, the two chimney sweeps who were very funny and even a pair of gliding angels. Very cool.
Highly recomended and thanks to the organisers for putting on a good show.
Wizz
