Default taps wanted

7/8 14tpi tap required for for doing a fire box any one got one?

I assume you want BSPT for a fusible plug?

Whilst 7/8" doesn't seem to be a standard taper size, taps are sometimes available.

As the thread shows, some people have had success with Tracy Tools. But when I was searching for one neither they nor anyone else seemed to stock them. In the end I made my own from carbon steel.

thanks for the help il try the lead there for tappin out the stay holes on a fowler boiler

Ah right - in that case I'm guessing you aren't looking for either a taper thread or the BSP series (not wishing to teach granny the art of sucking eggs, but 7/8" BSP is not 7/8" outside diameter!)


If you have a search through the techy topics section then I seem to remember some discussion about getting hold of stay taps...
