Default EATES Road Run 15th June 2019

The East Anglian Traction Engine Society held a 20 mile road run round North Essex, starting from the East Anglian Railway Museum at Wakes Colne. The route took in Fordham, Bures, Pebmarsh and Earles Colne before returning to the museum. As usual the photos are carefully selected as being the ones that happened to come out best! I think I've included everyone, but my apologies to anyone who's been left out!

First up, Aveling & Porter no. 12136 of 1928 leaving the museum.

With apologies to the owner/driver/roll walker - "Don't try this in big wheel".

No. 12136 again, from the 'peak' overlooking the 'plains' of North Essex.

Garrett no. 34936 of 1924, 'Agathis'.

Agathis is notable for being wood fired, resulting in definitely the cleanest footplate on the run.

Agathis on the railway bridge on the return to the museum.

Foden tractor 14078 of 1932.

Fowler conversion no. 21221 of 1937, 'Forest Queen' in less picturesque surroundings.

Garrett no. 33829 of 1920, 'Empress'.

The only Burrell, no. 3433 of 1912, 'Peter Pan', notable for being single manned.

Peter Pan again.

Fowler road loco no. 15467 of 1920, 'Sir Douglas', leaving the museum.

Sir Douglas in Bures.

And returning to the museum.

"There's a steam roller in the garden". The oldest engine present, Aveling no. 2941 of 1891, leaving the museum.

Wallis & Steevens Oil Bath no. 7372 of 1913, setting off.

No 7372 returning.

A big miniature, Steam Dreams Tasker A2, 'Barney'.

Miniature Fowler crane engine which showed a non-miniature turn of speed.

A very smart miniature Foden.

A great day out. Thank you to the organisers and everyone who took part.
Bill.
