Default Duncombe Park 2015

Pleasant day at Helmsley on Sunday with plenty to see on the steam front despite a few exhibits listed in the programme being absent .
A very nice Marshall No 35554 " Old Lass " could be seen giving a tour of the showground for a small donation , first time I have seen this particular engine anywhere
Here are one or two photo's

This is me steering "Surprise" in 1964, driven by Chris Rockliff, with children Brian and Margaret in the bunker.

We kept "Billy Boy" at Chris Rockliff's farm at Beningboro near York for a while until our engine shed had been built at home, At the same time, Chris bought the sister engine to Billy Boy called "Kathleen" which is also still owned by the family and shown in the Duncombe photo's above in its working clothes.

The year after I got to drive the 2" scale Jim Burlingham model of "Surprise" at Masham rally.

"Surprise" is in top condition having done very little work - I was looking at it in the viewing gallery specifically the gears - they looked like they had been recently remade but they were the originals - no wear on the teeth or any rattle on the shaft either.
