Default Scammell, Showmans living van, Organ

I have been asked by John Wooton to advertise on here the below items that he has decided to sell. For more information or prices please contact John on 07730059742;

ARTHUR BURSENS 52 KEY ORGAN

Built by Arthur Bursens (1890-1982) of Hoboken, Antwerp, Belgium, as one of a batch of 4 - 52 key Organs he made. It came to the Ownership of Lord O’Neill of Shanes Castle, Co Antrim, Ireland, Where it was an attraction mounted on a vintage Leyland truck and was fitted into its present transport in 1986.

It is believed to be the only 52 Key Bursens Organ with a metal trumpet register.

SHOWMAN’S LIVING WAGON CIRCA 1926

This Showman’s living Wagon was built by Bottomly’s of Hartlepool in 1926 It was owned
by J.R.Bliss. When New it was clad in wood and had Square corners. It was built on the back of a 1926 Lancia lorry, some years latter it was given it’s own set of wheels and clad in Aluminium, giving it rounded corners. It spent most of it’s working life traveling in the North of England. In 1985 the van was bought away from the Tyne & Wear district and was extensively restored in 1986. The feature of this van is the open coal fireplace, instead of the traditional Hostess cooking stove, this is because the Bliss family had two living vans, one being used as a Kitchen which was fitted with a Hostess cooking Stove and this one used purely as a sitting room hence the open fire.

SCAMMELL LORRY

New in 1947 to Midland Road Tanker service Walsall this Scammell 15 LA Motive Unit was used to haul a Tarmac Tanker. It was re-cabed in the early 50,s and used by George Dobson as a show track and towed his Dodgems from his yard in Broad Street Wolverhampton. It was restored in Preservation in 1986. A Lister single cylinder generator set is fitted in the back.

VICTORIAN DRAWING ROOM

This Van was first used by the West Midlands Local Area Health Authority in the early 50,s as a Schools Mobile Dental unit being bought in the early 90,s and extensively altered to show a Victorian Parlour complete with an 88 note Pianola sold by Harrods in 1937 for £53 11s

Thanks,

Tom

I have found this picture of when LDH 130 worked for George Dobson hauling a ride in the 1950's. Scammell, organ and drawing room still available.
