Default Road Run

Each year there is an unofficial Road Run to a local pub at Kemble.

Rather than load up trailers with people on what is a pretty fast moving road, the steam section has organised a bus to run people down to the pub and back on the Saturday evening alongside the engines that travel down..

If any day visitors would like to take advantage of this please make contact via PM so we have some idea of numbers. If a second bus is required we can organise.

(Normal admission fee applies. Pick up only inside show ground. Service subject to availability etc.)

Surely if it's an UNOFFICIAL road run you can do what the hell you like - public road, road legal vehicle, it's up to you.

It is however a very fast road so whether it's advisable or not is a different matter.

Legally , yes , but I doubt whether it or its pilot would live to tell the tale .

Engine John's Burrell 6" did it last year and he was not the slowest on the road.

True but it does come into the questioned 4"+ category although I would not feel safe on that road on anything less than full size unless I was escorted by something much bigger just behind me!

I am hearing rumours of the event moving to South Cerney Airfield next year. If true, is there a more accessible pub for a road run there?

nope.

its also all military, so i cant see it going there. we used to race RC Cars in one of the hangers, all had security passes and booking in/out to get on/off the site.

I have heard a rumour that the Americans might be moving out of Fairford Airbase, so that might go private like Kemble did, in which case it could be situated there.

incase anyone didnt know, Kemble Airfield is now called "Cotswold Airport"
