As I recall in the past the evening entertainment was stopped because of the local coming down from the hills causing trouble in the town.

LOL, we had this same problem every saturday night in the welsh market town I grew up in.

The farmers come to town to chase the town birds. Trouble is they smellt of cowshit or sheep and the town birds were really not that interested.

The result was the farmers got frustrated and all they wanted to do was fight.

We just learnt to go to a different pub. With about 15 pubs in town it wasn't hard!.

That describes Dolgellau to a tee, throw in a gang of pissed up gold miners and it turned into a hell of a night.

Back in the late 80s we used to take our steam powered shooting gallery to Llandudno and the evening openings where always problematic to say the least.
