Default Rally Portsmouth Historic Dockyard cancelled for May 2011

The event which has been held in the Dockyard in early May over the last few years has been cancelled for 2011. Not altogether surprising as it was clearly loosing 'critical mass', although it was a good venue, especially for running around with the miniatures.

Boo!
I was hoping to take my engine there next year seeing as it is just across the water.

I tried to book to go earlier this year, with plenty of time.
Emailed my details and pictures of engine.
I contacted the woman a number of times at the dockyard, but gave up in the end as she promised to get back to me and never did, right up to the event. Really annoying

Not surprised to be honest. Didn't have any atmosphere this year, very lacklustre.

I got my letter from them today, saying that there wasn't going to be one this year & thanking me for my support over the years.

They would be keeping us in mind, for any one off steam engined themed things & give us a call.

Shame really, as I was there from the first show & agree with what has already been said not really surprised.

Regards

Dan

I agree with Dan, been several times with my engine and have really enjoyed the show. The weather for the last two years has been awful and did not help the footfall through the gate. Its a commercial decision in the end and not really surprising.
