Yes we've done it for the past few years but decided to give it a miss this year.
Its a nice location, and 2016 they had Dr Busker and a real ale tent in the evening but last year they cancelled the whole evening entertainment at the last minute so we went on a road run off site which "apparently" didnt go down very well with them ? This year I note they dont mention anything for the evening. Not a huge area to play in and you can end up camping on quite a slope, they are also quite keen on the H&S front wanting Risk Assessments etc for all engines, not that anyone ever checked ours |

Many thanks
What is it with these health and safety brigades Visited a show a while back and there was LOTS of H&S rules especially about moving BUT very little common sense being shown. Nick

The Seward's crew are already making their way there, Victoria roaded in yesterday, Wallis "Wildfire" will be joining us on Wednesday but low loaded in due to time and the Thursday Burrell SRL will be roading in to join us. Also on site yesterday were Olive and The Lion.
Looking forward to a good weekend, we have been attending for a few years now, like others have said a good venue but alot of H&S so not much movement but there is usually a fair bit to see and the museum is good to.. |

Anybody visiting might like to look for the new and excellent display of early pictures of the museum when the first buildings were being re-erected. It is in what used to be the entrance and shop up the slope from the Toll Cottage behind the barn. On the subject of H&S it was at this event last year I saw two instances of the most stupid miniature engine driving I have ever seen! As for anything that happened over the last year's show also note that the then director left very suddenly in December 2017, his replacement seems to be a sensible sort. The admission charge which is their standard gate price includes the whole museum site. A full day can be easily spent here.

We're setting off bright and (far too) early tomorrow morning for a slow boat to Pompey.
All being well we should be there by midday. If anyone recognises the engine, 4" scale Ruston Proctor built around about 1998, and can tell me anything about who built it I'll be all ears! I'd like to know who made the boiler too. It's marked LB - 210 - 96. I wonder what happened last year? We didn't attend as I didn't get the boiler ticket sorted out in time. |
