2015 Manitoba Threshermen's Reunion
Given it's the depths of winter, I thought I'd put up a short report from our show last year, along with a few photos in the interest of trans-continental steam
The 2015 Manitoba Threshermen's reunion was held the last weekend of July at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum, in Austin MB. This show, the largest of it's kind on the Prairies (if not Canada) brings together over 700 volunteers who either bring in their own machines, or work on Museum artifacts. We pride ourselves on having the largest operating display of vintage farm equipment in the country, with a large number of unique/only operating early kerosene/prairie tractors. Our steam exhibit has been growing rapidly in the past few years, after some regulatory changes that made operation of lap seam riveted boilers allowable again. Although I didn't get photos of everything (too busy running engines!), our traction steam lineup included the following: 50HP Case (private) 50HP Case 65HP Case (original engine at the Museum, has been in Museum ownership longer than any other owner) 75HP Case 75HP Case (Private, Montana Special, factory wide drivers and front wheels) 110HP Case 25HP Canadian Special cross compound Reeves 25HP double simple Gaar-Scott 25HP single simple Gaar-Scott (private, just returned after a 5 year absence, complete plumbing overhaul, new bunkers, new canopy) 22HP Robert Bell (private) 1/3 scale 68HP Sawyer Massey (private) Engines were involved with a number of activities, such as sawing, threshing, ploughing, tug-of-war against humans, cooking corn, providing steam for our large cross-compound mill engine, and giving rides to the public View post on imgur.com |
