(Note if this does not load with spaces then my apologise I will endeavour to fix this later, in browser on an IPad really is not great) Yes I wondered that since at the main arena they were seemingly able to waste money having both music and commentary at the same time at the main arena, the music really was not even necessary. Frankly though I think this has far more to do with the demographics going to the show, it was clear when I was sat around the arena that more people were interested in the customised vehicles in the classic car parade as well as the (for some reason) modern lorries featured in the commercial parade. It seems people want it less steam (possibly because of a lack of parade *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* ) since there is no element of interactivity with members of the shy Joe public, like me. Many act in the same way as me because in all honesty you people, through lack of engagement in the centrepiece I.e. The ring, the steam community at the show makes themselves seem like a fringe group. This in combination with the factor of a lack interest of joe public to go and watch the steam, since in all perfect honesty the play pen though I understand is what engine owners want, is far to small. My advice is if you folks really want the centre of attention back in the engines, you need to encourage members of the public that your engines are worthwhile looking at, I.e Put some displays on In MAIN ring, get a bigger pen like then one at Kemble and just pressure management for change as to get more engines together. I shall honestly say that when events have occurred in the arena parade I.e. Joe chamberlains first outing, foremosts first run in the ring, more people will go over to the engines.
