The Etruria Canal Festival, based around the Etruria Industrial Museum in the heart of the Staffordshire Potteries, was a very successful event last weekend. With 25inches of vacuum on the gauge; the 1820s beam engine "Princess" ran better than ever before. The field was full of exhibits and stalls, it was especially pleasing to see so many community projects represented. There were plenty of canal boats and the public attended this free event in large numbers, estimated at about 9,000. There were miniature steam exhibits plus full size; it was pleasing to see the Clarke family's Sentinel looking smart after a cab rebuild.
