16351 Nauvoo Rd Middlefield, Ohio 44062 440-632-0052 USA Amish run operation. This wasn't just a tourist fun run. They had ten loads of logs to process, so the lumber sawn in this operation was for sale. The Amish offered the opportunity and a home cooked meal to steam enthusiasts. The Amish have a religious obligation to run as low tech as they can afford, so steam is right up their alley. |

Could you elaborate on "Some sawmills have a belt tightener" refering to twist in top & bottom run of belt. Does it also help with alignment of the belt? Thanks again Roger |

Excellent bit of film, thanks for posting. Makes our hand turned rack bench seem very archaic, even the power feed Stenner is slow but steady by comparison. Felt like it was sped up like you could do with the old cine film projector! Even the engine was running at Mamod revs...
We had a belt on our saw bench which would pull that trick of flipping inside out, you never saw it happen but only spotted it when it had flipped. I want a sawmill like that! JW |
