I spoke to his daughter a while back (came in to collect a job), IIRC he has been diagnosed with the dreaded big C but after I believe 26 years in the job he decided to call it a day and pass the reins to someone else. Good luck and the best of health to him I say even though I don't know him.

We must be thinking of different people Nick this chap had been in the job less than two years.

It is a good little event though and I cover it every year.
