![]() Hello All,
I wonder if any owners of miniatures would be interested in bringing their engines to the Charles Burrell Museums spring opening event this is the 25th year of the museum so it would be nice to have as many engines as possible. The event is to be held at the historic museum in Thetford Norfolk on Easter Sunday the 27th of March. You may have been present at the opening days many years ago when about fifty engines of all sizes (and makes) would turn up and have a road run round the town. Well it has been decided to reprise the event and for some unfathomable reason I have said I will help with the organisation, what on earth was I thinking…… The car park outside the museum should be quieter this time as its Easter Sunday, so there will be plenty of room for trailers etc. Any make or size of engine is welcome and if you are road registered and appropriately insured, you are welcome to come on the road run. The road run is not endorsed or supported by the museum and if you take part it is your responsibility to ensure you are competent, safe and appropriately insured to do so. I have worked out a possible route below, its not set in stone I need to bike it first to see if its possible or not. From Minstergate (The museum) Over the bridge (Bridge St) Join Old Bury Rd (Past Chas Burrells old house, and cemetery where he’s “possibly?” buried) Along A134 (avoid getting squashed by huge lorry!) Down Mill Lane Join Nuns Bridges Rd (If still alive after going down A134) North up Ford St Along Raymond St Turn Right past Dads Army Museum (possible stop/water if it’s open?) Left at Market Place Possible stop at Red Lion (Wetherspoons, for a Beer? There is a large car park outside the pub) Back to Minstergate through shopping precinct. Relax if still alive! It would be lovely to have a good number of engines present and it could be a grand start to the season. Any questions please PM me. Chris Hazel. PS. There is an excellent thread on the closing do here: http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/showthread.php?t=36593

![]() Hello All,
Just a quick reminder that the opening "Do" is a month away so there is plenty of time to rec-commission your engine prior to the event. There will be no need to book in etc. this is a very informal event. However please try to be there by 10:00 please. Chris Hazel.

![]() Sounds like a good 'Do' Chris. I'll pass the details on to the gang who came to Model Engineers' Day at Forncett last October:

![]() Hello David, the exhibitors should hopefully be there by about 10:00, I have no idea how many engines will be there its a very informal event/gathering. I would imagine the road run (if there is enough interest in doing it) will be late morning/early afternoon, the weather doesn't look great for the afternoon, so it will be a bit of a play it by ear job.
I hope this helps. Chris Hazel.
