Weren't the Ploughers or the Ruston traction on display?

ploughing engine "JOHN" is on display, "MICHAEL" and the ruston are in the shed behind the museum, all three need work unfortunately and due to lack of funds i dont think they will be seen in the near future.

Yes lack of funds I think Michael will not be done up for a very long time and the Ruston needs a new fire box the last I heard when I worked at the Skegness Museum and on a commite for the engines they was trying to make there mind up over a rivited or welded box but money is the lack of for all engines at the museum.

Good to see the Tuxford progressing,

But a shame about the Ruston Proctor steam shovel (in the background photo 2) being allowed to deteriorate steadily. Was it not in working order when donated after being restored by Ruston apprentices and others IRC.

The Ruston steam navvy is the sole property of Ray Hooley and so the Museum will not spend their money on it and rightly so.I believe it is under negociation to go elsewhere eventually as it is an embarrasment to the Museum.

Is that the same Ray Hooley who did so much for the museum?

I'm afraid it is the same Ray Hooley.Just to say I have nothing personal against Ray as
you are correct he has done a lot for the Museum in the past.

Sorry I Didnt realise it was only on 'loan' to the museum, Id got the impression it had been donated from an article some time ago.

IIRC Ray had a section on its rescue from a flooded pit on his engines web site as well.

I must come across and get some new photos at the museum as the ones i took a few years ago on an open day have gone awol & I wanted to add an exhibit list to its page on tractor wiki & to wikipedia's rather short article.
