Default Langport 2008

The rally was blessed with fantastic weather this year and was enjoyed by approximately 40 full size and miniature engines. The new play ring idea proved to be spot on and was in constant use throughout the weekend. No excuse to get bored here!

Fridays' road run was over 2 routes to the ever popular cider farm and quite a few engines used the excuse to stretch their legs.

The traditional Saturday run to Eli's (Rose & Crown) appears to go from strength to strength and parking was at a premium. The tarmac in the car park is now looking decidedly dodgy!

Generating duties in the evening were carried out by Burrell May Queen and A&P Princess Victoria on Friday night and Princess Victoria, accompanied by Burrells George VI and King of the Belgians on Saturday night. (Dave being grumpy and having a private session on the camp site).

Highlights were the 2 Burrells generating head to head, Gliddons Tasker tractor Twighlight and Phil Upshalls garrett 4CD Cornish Star pulling the stone around the play pen, The Fowler ploughing engines doing what they do best and Burrell crane engine Old Tim and Nick Bakers' Burrell Road Loco on heavy haulage duty. It was also good to see a welcome return of Mike Lawrences W&S Expansion engine Lord Louis.

Congratulations and thanks to all the organisers for a very enjoyable weekend.

Charlie.
