Default Stoves

Greetings,
just an idea. I have found several stoves on ebay. Look under cast iron range. The most inportant detail with these is to make sure your chimney flashing doesn,t leak. These stoves or ranges don,t like the wet or damp. You must expect to do some work unless you pay a lot of money. Praps don,t rush into buying the first one you see as they do come up very often. Study them. You will notice many named ranges are manufactured by the same company & parts are interchangeable. Early ones had fancy door hinges but oval chimnies. Late ones had round chimnies with plain doors. What I have done is bought many stoves & made up a few good ones with parts in good condition & details I like. In most cases the minimum you may have to do is make a new oven, praps from stainless steel. The BELLE PORTABLE type was made in three sizes in about 5 styles right up to enammeled finishes in the early 1950,s.
Make sure you use firebricks. Many good stoves are wrecked with not using them. Another detail I have done is mount the stove on a simple box where coal can be stored underneath. The little legs on these stoves are not very strong when the stove is within a living van. Buy wisely, don,t skimp on a bodged job & your stove will give you years of warmth, good brews, food & service.
Good luck & cheerio Michael Webber....
