Default Cumbria steam gathering 2011

What a great weekend. Weather was perfect. Very good turn out and a very well organised event.
Met a few old friends, and made some new ones.

I think the miniature section this year was the best here for some time.

A few pics, Sorry mainly miniatures.

Thanks to the organisers and staff, and all involved to make it a really fantastic weekend.

John

I went along on Saturday and the weather was perfect , plenty to see .
Shame a few big engines were not there despite what the programme noted

I couldn't believe the £12.00 admission price for a show of this size. There were less full sized steam engines present than usual, and three listed in the programme that were missing. It seems like most of the local engine owners are boycotting this rally for some reason.

Had a quick visit to this event on Sunday afternoon on our way back from Scotland and had a very pleasant afternoon, lots to see for the public at quite a reasonable price. A few pics from me. Can anyone shed any light on the history of the Aveling sinlge tractor, not one I've seen before.
Jim

It was an Eddison roller, converted by John Henderson of Northallerton, thence on to Billy Renton at Catterick and showmanised and now lives in Barnard Castle. Had a new smokebox fitted last week (literally) at Shildon Engineering.

You would have thought that they would have fitted the correct type of smokebox, and associated roller parts whilst they were at it.
