Woolpit Steam to return on May 31 and June 1 to Warren Farm in Wetherden

POPULAR FAMILY EVENT TO RETURN: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

A popular event which celebrates a bygone era of steam engines and
vintage agricultural machinery will return this summer.

Woolpit Steam will welcome visitors on May 31 and June 1 to Warren
Farm in Wetherden with an array of historic exhibits and unusual
machinery.

It follows the success of last year’s event, which raised £27,000
for local charities and community groups and brought the total sum
generated by Woolpit Steam to more than £355,000.

Woolpit Steam is probably best known for its pre 1930 tractor display
and organisers expect to see about 20 examples on show again this
year, with a further 70 tractors built before 1965 anticipated.

The stationary engine section is likely to number 80 in total with
several being more than 100 years old.

Many will be presented doing what they were originally designed for by
driving an array of mills, pumps, dynamos and other machinery.

The section includes the Bamford line shafting display where one
engine is powering multiple machines for preparing feed for livestock.

The wood sawing display will feature examples of steam, tractor and
stationary engine driven saws producing planks, posts and fire wood.

Other exhibits on show will include full size steam engines with
examples of showman’s engines, agricultural engines and even a
portable engine.

Vintage cars, motorcycles, commercial and military vehicles are all
represented.

More than 50 craft, trade and auto jumble stalls will be selling their
wares and there will be hot and cold food, a licensed bar and ice
creams.

Mike Rule will return with his popular Steam Gallopers and big wheel
which will allow visitors a bird’s eye view of the show.

These will be supported by side stalls, Punch & Judy and a full ring
programme on both days to keep the family entertained.

Gates open from 9am to 5pm on both days and admission is adults £8
Saturday / £9 Sunday, and children £2 on either day.

They are unable to accept card payments.

Car parking is free and the show is accessible from junction 47a on
the A14 eastbound, or junction 49 westbound.
