I visited Strumpshaw on the Monday. Living about 20 miles away as the crow flies, I expected it to be as dry as at home - I was wrong. I wasn't planning to take any photgraphs, but got carried away by the working demonstrations of extracting engines from mud! No pretensions of a proper record of another very interesting rally - for the visitor!
A well know figure in the local steam scene looking uncharacteristically glum.
Burrell SCC 'Achilles' and RSJ 'Major'.
'Major' again.
'Achilles' getting a hand.
'Achilles' - made it!
Burrell SCC 'The Duchess'. The Field Marshall looks to have the regulator and cylinder drain cocks full open!
Marshall portable. The reflection in the puddle looked better in real life.
Some got out on their own. Foden Colonial Road Locomotive 'Monarch'.
Some visitors didn't mind the mud.
Finally, every steam 'Do' needs an organ. Thanks to Jonny Ling of The Grange for bringin his Dutch street organ.
