Smart & Brown 'Sabel' 4.1/2" lathe for sale .

4.1/2" BG & SC , sliding and surfacing , screwcutting gearbox , taper turning and full set of collets . 3 jaw and 4 jaw chucks , all jaws and new set soft jaws in box . Quick change toolpost never fitted , 4 way toolpsst , 3 point and travelling steadies , 240v . No gap bed , 10" faceplate . All on original makers cabinet . I also have a larger lathe , and do not have the use for this one , so I am selling it because I need the space for a mill .

This is a clone of the 2nd War imported American Southbend , like the Boxford and others , but the Smart & Brown was the pick of the bunch . Boxford accessories will fit .

After a sort through this advert needs amending .
Smart & Brown 'Sabel' 4 1/2" back geared and screwcutting lathe , with power feeds sliding and surfacing .
Full screwcutting gearbox .
The steadies which came with the lathe do not fit it , sorry ( so am I ! )
Three sets of lightly used soft jaws , but the new ones were for another chuck .
The quick change toolpost comes with three tool holders , and has never been fitted up on the lathe .
4 way tool post .
Non gap bed
The large faceplate is just too large to fit , but there is an 8" one .
The collets are 1 to 12 mm , 1/2" and a couple of other odd imperial sizes .
Catch plate .
Centres . Original collett rack and tool stand to fit on top of cabinet behind lathe .
230 v drive system all complete with original switching .
Taper turning attachment .
