![]() I visited this event as a punter last year.
A Victorian Extravaganza it is not! Its nothing more than a modern street fair. The engines were nowhere to be found until after the parade through town, when they were hidden down a back street out of the way. What is the attraction of attending?, is it the money/coal? The transport festival was a grand doo however.

![]() We love it. We go down the yard early doors and watch and chat as the sheets come off, then we walk up with them as they get to the start position of the parade. We then watch the parade, usually moving between a couple of locations as they progress. We then wait for them to return to the 'back streets' and mingle some more, then off to the pub with them for another chat. We then go up the field to wander around there before cadging a lift on one of the evening road runs. I agree that there is a lot of street entertainment but it's a place where families go for the weekend. To me it has great atmosphere and is a great day out if you are not intent on rivet counting. You can't say it's not popular. ![]() ![]() |

![]() We had a great time David. Up the orme, ride on some gallopers, flew a kite on the beach, rode on some old buses. Had a good look round the transport festival.
But still cant see the attraction of taking an engine.
