Belvoir Castle - 19 May 2012

[Steam Scenes]

Rain made an unfortunate return to Belvoir Castle today after several years of good weather previously. I understand it rained all night and this turned the site into a bit of a mud bath and stopped all engine movements. Never-the-less there was much to look at and several engines were making their debut at the event.

They do share a shed, and look very similar, so it's an easy mistake to make!

Here's some of my photos.. It didn't rain again after the downpour over friday night, and the ground got a little better on Sunday, although most things had to be towed off site.

That setup was to connect the unit to the trailer. We were mid way through extracting another lowloader when a big tractor came, so we let him pull the lorry out.

We used "Tiger" for exactly the same, although some people need to teach their kids some bloody common sense!

Those tyres may not look attractive on engines, but when wet they do the job perfectly! Wonder how many were surprised at just how far they got before getting stuck? And even then, it was only about 10 ft from the road!

I always see little green patches of good ground under engines at muddy rallies, funny what you see.. Looks a good rally. :-)

Probably where the heat from under the boiler has dried the ground where the engine has been standing !..
