From the uncontrolled billowing of steam from beneath the canopy in picture 8 suggests not of this occassion

The Field Marshall provided assistance for elf & safety reasons. The climb up to the showground is steep and narrow. If the roller strays too close to the edge it can get a bit slippy particulary if the rear wheel is riding on the lip of a car track and only a narrow section is in contact with the ground. We have come to grief on previous but damper conditions. This year was bone dry and had been levelled out so probably would have been ok on its own. Still better than having 12 ton of steel slip sliding back to the bottom of the hill using punters as Armco.
