There will be a steam event at the Last Drop Village, Bolton on the 6th and 7th of May.
It is their first venture into the world of steam events after seeing the rallies around the North West.
They have contacted committee members from the Lancashire Traction Engine Club for advice and posted the following on the club facebook page:
"We are in the process of taking bookings for traction engines to come along to the Steam Fair at the Last Drop on the 6th and 7th of May and would really welcome your support.
The steam fair will be open to members of the public free of charge. As a business we will pay for coal and if someone is travelling we may be able to put towards expenses.
There will be no profit other than what we make in our pub and tea shop on site which goes to the hotel.
We will also offer steam engine owners and families discount in the pub as we hope you would make the weekend a really good family event with us. If anyone has any questions or would like a booking form please telephone me or contact me via email on
h6634-gm@accor.com
Regards
Kerian Barnes"
They have messages of intent to attend from 3 engines and 2 miniatures plus some tractors but would welcome more.
I am not certain of the level of financial reward or expenses to be paid but coal will be provided.
In conversation with Ms Barnes, she is anxious to point out that this has nothing to do with the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre or its owner, despite what might have been advertised and said elsewhere and in the press.
