Default 4" Burrell "Little Beastie"

"Little Beastie"
4" Agricultural Burrell Traction Engine

Little Beastie is looking for a new home and is being sold, still in working clothes, for £14,500. Little Beastie has more provenance than most miniature engines. During its construction from a ModelWorks kit it was featured as a build diary on the Burrell Builder website. While this is no longer online the diary is available from MJ Engineering (http://www.mjeng.co.uk/mjburrell4.html) and in the restricted access section here. In the course of its travels the engine has featured on both TV & press.

Saturday 1st June, The Three Horseshoes, Whissendine Near the start of a 15 mile road run

Little Beastie, has a heart of gold and has never let me down and notably has never been towed, always getting me back to base camp. Along the way there have been many road side repairs followed by corrective maintenance in the home workshop. Little Beastie is now a well sorted engine upon which I have covered many road miles. I am not sure of the exact mileage but guess the total is approaching 1000 miles including road, and rally field. As you would expect from this mileage there are battle scars but these give the engine plenty of character and make it look much older than the true age of seven years.

Little Beastie likes to be driven not polished!

Little Beastie is offered with driver's seat that has a special linkage, which ensures weight is correctly distrusted between the front and rear wheels even when driven by a heavy driver. Thus the steering remains positive at all times and unlike many 4" miniatures can be turned uphill, on rough ground, without under steering. The long riding trolley is not included.

The boiler has been maintained and inspected under the Federation's model engineering code and a full history of certificates will accompany the engine.
