Default Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza - 4/5/6 May 2013

A selection of pictures I took over the weekend:

The parade was lead by Foster 14564 "Victoria":

Aveling & Porter 3199 - First time I had since this one since 2005, I'm assuming it has had some work done?

Fowler 15657 "The Iron Maiden"
:

Foden 12782 "Angelina"
- Another one that has had various items completed since I last saw it:

Fowler 14862 "Evening Star":

Foden 2104 "Prospector":

6" McLaren RL, one of two in attendance:

Fowler 15657 "The Iron Maiden":

Aveling & Porter 6021 "Dougal":

Foden 4258:

Aveling & Porter 6093 "Julie":

Foden 8304 "Cheshire Pride":

Foden 2104 "Prospector":

McLaren 1642 following Evening Star:

Marshall 57304, "Challenger":

And an angle you don't normally get to use, taken around 500 feet up from the Great Orme during the parade on Sunday afternoon with the engines traveling around the streets (click for a BIG version):

Thanks to organisers and engine owners. All my pics will be on Steam Scenes tomorrow evening at some point, I'll post a link here.

Nice photos, the whole setting looks great, shame we were stuck in the shed working but maybe next time. Anyone stay over for the whole weekend? Is it a nice place to stay apart from the steam and vintage aspect?

Great photos! Anymore shots of Foden Angelina? Clearly she has a new set of front wheels and possibly a part repaint. Nice to see her at another angle....

Great photos as always David! I see you brought the sun, much better than the Sunday we had in Cornwall! Do you have a side photo of the D type?

The pics from yesterday could have been better but it was so busy it was impossible to get a good spot with sun in right place a nice backdrop. Oh well, I'm never happy!

Here you go - Buzzy Bee was telling be about the work they have done:

Great photographs!

With reference to Aveling & Porter 3199. Since 2005 the engine has undergone a substantial amount of work. In 2008 severe cracks were discovered in the steam jacket of the cylinder block. Once all avenues of repair had been tried it was decided to condemn the casting. I made the decision at this time to strip the engine and totally rebuild the engine. I've re-ground the crank, manufactured new big and little end bearings. Overhauled the valve gear. New piston rod etc. Re-bored and bushed one of the rear wheels. New weigh shaft, reversing lever quadrant. All boiler fittings have been overhauled among a long list of other jobs. In 2010 a replacement cylinder block was sourced overhauled and fitted. I also took the decision to repaint the engine while stripped down.

I was extremely pleased to be able to get the engine back on the road in time for this show as it was an absolute cracker.

Rob

Thank you David.

We parked next to her for a whole week at a GDSF show in the late 90's, and spent quite some time looking over her. A love this D Type. Does anyone know the history of this engine?
