Default Exciting steam rally to feature uk's top motorcycle display team

EXCITING STEAM RALLY TO FEATURE UK'S TOP MOTORCYCLE DISPLAY TEAM

The Abergavenny Steam Rally, on May 25 and 26, will feature "the UK's
number one motorcycle display team," Bolddog FMX.

The team will perform stunts on the world's largest FMX ramp, allowing
them to jump 75ft gaps and perform mid-air tricks.

Between displays, the public can meet the team and get a closer look
at their bikes.

The event, which takes place in Bailey Park, will also feature an
array of vehicles from throughout history, from steam engines to
modern-day motorbikes.

The rally is known for its exciting arena events, and this year will
include a dog display team, Shire horses, and a tug of war between a
steam engine and hundreds of children.

The Abergavenny Rotary Club has run the event for the past 25 years,
raising more than £500,000 for local causes.

Rotary president Keith Spencer said: "We are celebrating both events,
raising all that money and running the show for 25 years.

"During that time, we have been able to donate to Blood Bank Wales,
Longtown Mountain Rescue and many of our youth activities, and sports
clubs.

"It’s a great achievement only possible because of the hard work and
dedication of not only the Rotary Club but the willing band of
volunteers which steps up year on year to help run what is probably
the best show for many miles around."

The rally will also feature a range of stalls selling a variety of
goods, arts and crafts, and an auto jumble.

There will be a children’s area with steam organs and a miniature
steam train.

Mr Spencer added: "This is a family show, and it is all credit to the
Rotarians and non-Rotarian volunteers who gave their total commitment
to make this great two days possible.

"It’s a family day out, good fun and great value for money.

"We put it on for the community, and we attract visitors who come from
miles around year after year, whatever the weather, to enjoy a unique
event."

Default Abergavenny 2025

For me the highlight of our 2024 visit was the road run that went anti-clockwise round the outside of the park starting just after 11.00 on the Sunday morning. The picture in the report shows the Fowler roller exitig on to the 'Hereford Road' The people on the gate ought to know when it will start.

My report is here:
https://www.internationalsteam.co.uk...rollers689.htm

This year is bound to be different because last year the whole of the park was a muddy mess after a very wet spell and the engines were parked up on the small road that runs through it.

It's just about the only 'road steam' event in South Wales. If, like us you are visiting from England, don't forget that the former 30mph limited areas are now 20mph...
